Every week a Maltese business owner asks us the same question: "kemm se tiswieni s-social media?" It is a fair question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. Here is what businesses in Malta actually pay in 2026, what each price level includes, and the warning signs worth knowing before you sign anything.
The short answer
Social media management in Malta typically runs from around €200 to €1,100 a month, depending on how many platforms you need, how much content is produced, and how much strategy and community management is included. Most small local businesses land between €250 and €500. Hotels and multi-location brands tend to sit higher, closer to €800 and up.
What you get at each price level
Around €250 a month buys you one platform, usually Facebook or Instagram, with consistent posting and basic captions. This suits a small shop, a tradesperson, or a business that just needs a reliable, professional presence rather than an aggressive growth push.
Around €450 a month typically covers two platforms, more posts and reels each month, bilingual captions in English and Maltese, and some community management during business hours. This is the level most restaurants, salons and retail businesses settle on, since it matches how often they actually need to show up.
€800 a month and above usually means three platforms including TikTok, a much higher volume of content, seven-day community management, competitor monitoring and a monthly strategy call. Hotels and businesses with more than one location tend to need this level to keep every location visible.
What should always be included
Whatever you pay, a few things should never be optional: a content calendar you approve before anything goes live, a monthly report showing what was posted and how it performed, and clear ownership of your pages and content. If an agency cannot show you last month's numbers on request, that is worth asking about directly.
Red flags when comparing agencies
Watch for vague deliverables, such as "regular posting" with no number attached, long lock-in contracts with no easy way out, and quotes that bundle ad spend into the management fee without separating what actually goes to Meta or TikTok. A transparent quote keeps the management fee and the advertising budget as two clearly separate lines, every time.
DIY vs agency: the real cost of your own time
Posting a photo yourself costs nothing in cash but a great deal in time: sourcing content, writing captions in two languages, replying to comments, and staying on top of what is trending this week. For most owner-operators, that time is worth more spent running the business. The honest comparison is not "free versus paid," it is "my hours versus an agency's hours."
